The purpose of getting the report is to know where the problem is so as to know where to begin rebuilding. At this point take time to check for any errors of omission or commission on the report. All the details should be correctly entered and if any is incorrect, inform the creditor and the credit bureau so as to amend the report. If you have any disputes with your credit report then you can file your complaints via telephone to the relevant institutions, by written communication and in some cases online.

The action of informing the creditors and the credit bureau is to include them in the amending process. The creditors will have to check their records again and the credit bureau will confirm with the creditor to make sure that the details are matching. Within a period of 30 days after communication to the parties with no response from them, then you can contact them again to follow up on the matters. In the mean time, what you can be doing yourself is practicing new good credit habits such as paying your dues on time and clearing your debts soonest possible.
